Lovely sunshine today but a freezing cold strong wind. Putting washing out this morning I had a thick fleece jacket on, by the time I'd finished and came indoors my face was frozen and I couldn't feel my fingers. Thank goodness it's going to warm up by the end of next week.
I had a welcome surprise earlier - a phone call giving me a physiotherapy appointment on the 1st June, for my very painful shoulder. Wonders will never cease. And, also very welcome news, it's at our local community hospital so just a couple of miles down the road. It's such a pain in the backside when we have to spend an hour travelling to the big general hospital in Taunton - plus parking there costs an arm and a leg, whereas the local hospital is free parking.
My hostas and bedding dahlias are being eaten to death by, I assume, slugs or snails. And the blasted pigeons (there are loads round here) are devouring husband's veggies so he has to keep netting them (the little veg plants, not the pigeons!). At least we've got some little yellow courgettes growing - no sign of the green ones fruiting yet, the plants seem to be much slower growing than the yellow ones.
I'm cracking on with my crocheted cardi, about a third of the back panel done, I'll show a photo soon.
That is good news. It's awful having to wait for treatment when you're in pain. I hope the physio helps.
ReplyDeleteLike you, we have lovely sunshine, but oh, that chill wind! I'm having to put several layers on when we go out. I do hope the predicted warmer weather materialises soon.
I have a hosta which I had to plant in a hanging basket to keep it out of reach of the slugs and snails. I need to put it in a pot now, and am thinking I'll put the pot on the bird table. See if that keeps it safe! I'm imagining several molluscs with climbing gear on, making the ascent up the bird table! I wouldn't put it past the little b**gers! xx
Put copper tape around the outside of the pot and slugs won't climb over it. Tip from OH who does the gardening here.
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks. I'd forgotten the copper trick. I'd tried smearing vaseline round the pot, but that didn't work. I'll get some copper tape. xx
DeleteWhat great news that you have your treatment so close. I so hope it helps your shoulder.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
