Cotton wool head, flapjacks for comfort

Sorry for lack of posts, nothing wrong (other than the tiredness!), just busy - well, on and off - and nothing much to write about.  I'm busy today - just as well I wrote a To Do list yesterday evening as I had a terrible night and feel like death warmed up this morning, with a head stuffed full of cotton wool.  I've done half the things on the list already, just sat down for a coffee break and quick chat with siblings.  Husband's out at the gym (well done him) so I've had a good hour to get on without interruptions.

The next thing on my list is to make some choc chip & cherry flapjacks to take up with me.  Tomorrow afternoon will be spent packing up and clearing out all Mum's stuff, which PR has hitherto refused to let go of but has now agreed, so it'll be emotional and full-on and we'll be in need of something comforting to have with a cuppa.  I wouldn't be surprised if PR changes his mind and puts up some resistance, we'll have to deal with that if/when it happens.  Siblings and I will be having the family conference back at our hotel in the evening, continuing Weds morning if necessary.  I'm looking forward to spending time with my elder bro and sis in the hotel, it'll be fun (once all the important stuff is done and dusted).

I see there's the possibility of sleet, snow or ice up in the Midlands, not looking forward to that!  Fortunately, my elder brother, who is taking me up there (he lives in Cornwall so is collecting me on his way up), has a big 4x4 and is ex-Police advanced driver, he also now works in the Alps every winter teaching new chalet staff how to drive 4x4s in the snow, so he's very experienced.  Minus temperatures are forecast for the Midlands, but not down here, although it is quite chilly down here now.

Right, must get on - for all my Northern readers (and overseas with wintry weather), please take care and stay safe and warm.

  2. I hope PR allows you all to get on with what needs to be done. Sorting stuff out after someone's died is never easy. It feels very intrusive, but is necessary. At least, with all of you there, the load will be spread. I'm glad you've got an experienced driver. If the weather is going to be as bad as predicted, you know you'll be in the safest of hands. Those flapjacks sound yummy. Any chance you could post me a couple?😋 xx

  3. I hope everything goes well, it's reassuring that such an experienced driver is in charge of the journey, at least you should be able to relax. Yes, it's already turning very cold here 'up North'. Alan, the jammy sod, is heading 'down South' tonight, so he is driving away from it.

  4. We're predicted to get 15hrs of snow!! I'm in the east Midlands. I don't always believe what I hear!! I've made sure I've picked up today's dog poo off the lawns - nothing worse than treading in hidden poo!!!

  5. Safe journey and best wishes for a good outcome from your get-together. I intend staying here in Cornwall where it's currently raining but it's pleasant at 12 degrees. Before I moved to Cornwall in 1986 I lived in several Leicestershire villages and well remember when we had 'proper' snow. I used to have to dig my car out from deep drifts before setting off for work.

  6. I hope it all goes well. Going through the possessions of someone you've lost is never easy, but it will be a great step forward at least. Safe journey (and how fabulous to have an expert driver!).

  7. Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well. I am glad that your brother is picking you up, it will be much safer in a 4X4 if it snows or you have freezing rain.

Getting rain here, which of course will freeze and overnight it is changing to snow. Not my type of winter weather at all. Supposedly we will be in a blizzard as the day progresses tomorrow.

    God bless.
