It's exceedingly noisy here this morning, there's a big cement lorry parked right beside our bungalow with the engine running and the cement mixer tank revolving. The chief builder is riding up and down in a dumper truck thing, collecting several loads of cement from the lorry then transporting it to the building job nearby, his truck beeps loudly all the time. There are several more builders, plus neighbour Mr X and his brother all standing there watching and shouting to each other to be heard above all the din. It's bedlam. Good start to the day π
Yesterday evening husband and I had words, honestly that man is the most argumentative and obstinate man I know. Normally when he's got a bee in his bonnet about something and is determined to insist he's right and I'm wrong, I just give in and walk away - even if I'm right, it's really not worth the hassle to argue about things with him, he will not relent or admit that he may be wrong. I went for a shower in the evening....the water kept going off, each time I pressed the button it would flow for about 10 seconds and then stop again, we've had this problem before (although it only seems to happen when it's me showering and not husband!). Every time the water shut off, I could hear husband running taps in the kitchen, which is right next to the bathroom. The shower water only started flowing properly again once husband had turned off the taps in the kitchen (he was washing up). When I came out of the shower I told husband what had happened, he immediately said "No, that shouldn't happen", I said well it did. Once again he insisted it couldn't happen, he said it 2 or 3 times. As I said, normally I give in for the sake of peace but this time I thought no I'm not going to, he cannot continue to think that he is always right. So I said whether it couldn't or shouldn't happen was irrelevant, the fact was it WAS happening and that was that. I invited him to go and run the shower whilst I ran the taps in the kitchen, he just shrugged and wouldn't do it. I think the next time he's in the shower I'll turn on the kitchen sink taps, just to show him that it DOES happen. It'll be sod's law that it won't happen then! ππ
We've finished off putting up the fence trellis panels, it looks good and gives us a much needed extra 12" of height along the top of the fence. Once the ivy and other climbing plants grow up onto the trellis, we'll have so much more privacy, I'm very pleased with it.

You have the patience of a saint. If it was me, I'd wait until my husband was in the shower, turn the taps on and take Betty out for a long walk!
ReplyDeleteThat did make me laugh! π
DeleteLooking good Sooze!
ReplyDeleteForgot to say that yes, our shower behaves in exactly the same way, even when the loo gets flushed.
ReplyDeleteOur shower used to do that, before we had the bathroom done. Don't know what they did, but it's much better not having to think about turning a tap on!
ReplyDeleteThe trellis is looking good, and will already be giving you some privacy. Once the plants have climbed it, it'll be perfect! I hope the noise abates soon. I know we have to live and let live, but it does start to get on your nerves after a while. xx
The trellises look great! Our shower slows noticeably if the kitchen taps are turned on or the toilet is flushed but doesn't stop altogether.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the argumentativeness. My mum insisted to me that the mark on her leg couldn't be a spider bite as she hadn't been in the garden. I knew that she had because she'd told me last week, but her voice was raised and it had the easily recognisable 'edge' to it so I shut up... after all, I was beaten as a child for 'answering back'. She insisted it was shingles despite not having the symptoms of it ( Ive had them 3 times do know what Im talking about). Today, she told me that she remembered she had been in the garden!
