Thank you for all the suggestions for the windows, I'll take them all on board. I've decided that as we have quite a lot on for the next few weeks, I'm going to put the windows out of my mind for the time being, we'll just manage with the nets for a while.
Busy day yesterday, I made the fish pie and scones and they're now in the freezer ready for next week. Did a few jobs in the garden - not as much as I'd have liked, although it was sunny there was quite a strong wind, which made it feel a bit colder, it was strong enough to blow away some of the prunings and weeds I'd pulled up, meaning I had to chase them round the garden. I'd asked husband to dig up and move one of the roses, which was too close to a large shrub, I told him which one it was and where I wanted it to go. I got out in the garden just in time to find him starting to dig up the wrong rose! One that wasn't half buried under the shrub and was perfectly fine where it was.....honestly, as I keep saying, I know he can't help things like this, it's the cognitive stuff, but it doesn't half make life awkward at times. We'd discussed a couple of days ago where to put the pots and support frames for the outdoor tomatoes this year, I suggested a place but husband pointed out it would be too near the whirlygig washing line - he was right, well done him, I hadn't thought of that. However, he then put the pots in place and started erecting the framework.....in exactly the place where HE'D said was wrong, too close to the whirly thing! All fixed now, sometimes we just have to laugh (or else we'd cry).
Today I'm making sausage rolls, cauli cheese and stuffing balls for next week. Showers forecast today so probably no garden work, I'll get on with sprucing the house up ready for sister's arrival on Monday. I also need to do a shopping list for fresh stuff, we'll go shopping on Sunday.
Yes, laughing is better than crying but really . . .!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the ongoing preparations. Next week will be delicious as well as everything else. xx
A good idea to put the windows on hold for a while. There's no rush, and you've got better things to think about - your sister's visit. Yay!
ReplyDeleteI think men just don't listen, so only hear what they want to hear and then only part of that! Then add cognitive impairment into the mix... xx
My hubby has man's ear, they only hear what they want too...
ReplyDeleteHugs. I'm appalling at gardening - and the best in the household!
ReplyDeleteYour cooking sounds amazing, with all the good stuff.
I had to smile at the garden shenanigans - but between you both, you got it right!
ReplyDeleteYou're cooking some very tasty things ready for your sisters visit, we have my husband's daughter, her hubby and baby for the weekend and I've suggested to my husband we keep it simple.. ha ha the rose, I can't garden like I used to so I supervise and can often be heard saying loudly, no not that, that's a plant not a weed!!
ReplyDeleteLove reading about your cooking prep for your sister coming. DH is currently painting the bathroom and the colour on the walls doesn’t resemble the shade card at all!! Catriona
ReplyDeleteLaughter is the best medicine they say. I do hope you can keep laughing. You are going to eat well while your sister is visiting.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Laughing is all that keeps us sane at time, although I have to admit to being very near to tears while visiting Mum yesterday. She thought it was her fault, so I had to reassure her that she was the bright light of the day for me. Still it stopped me crying about the massive overload in my brain at the moment.
