Getting organised

It was the British Grand Prix at Silverstone yesterday, husband always watches the races, I do sometimes.  I watched yesterday and was glad I did, it was very exciting, particularly in the latter stages, and I was so pleased for Lewis Hamilton, winning for a record 9th time at his home circuit.  Well done him and his team.  When we lived up in the Midlands, we went to Silverstone race circuit one weekend - not for the GP, it was some other race, I forget what.  It was a good day out, anyway.  One thing about the GP - they kept showing on the TV loads of celebrities there.....I wonder how many of them had to pay for their tickets?  Not many, I'm sure, they probably get free invites.  Which is all wrong really - it costs ordinary people 100s of pounds for tickets to events like that, whereas those who have millions don't have to pay!  I was fortunate enough to be given 4 complimentary tickets by the company I worked for at the time, we took our friends from Kent with us, coincidentally they were on holiday near to us.

In anticipation of the new kitchen installation, although we don't yet know when it'll be, we're going to be sorting out the carport this week, it's gradually been getting messier as husband piles more stuff in there - the shed is the same, it's a right mess.  Husband started on his shed yesterday, all I could hear was a series of crashes and bangs as things kept falling over, or he tripped over them, or they fell off shelves where they'd been balanced precariously πŸ˜’.  He's a walking disaster, my husband.  Fortunately, he didn't hurt himself, other than a few knocks and bruises.  The shed does look a lot better now though.  We have several empty large plastic lidded boxes in the carport, stacked up and left over from the move, I intend to use them to store the kitchen equipment.  I'll start going through the kitchen units and packing away stuff I rarely use (what's the betting I'll want or need something as soon as it's packed away?  At least the boxes are clear plastic so I'll be able to see what's in them.  I could label them, of course.  The boxes will be stored temporarily in the carport.  You know I like to be organised!

I've got the surgery's 2nd attempt to get blood out of me this afternoon, I hope they can do it this time.  If they only try twice and still can't do it, I'm not going to agree to yet another appointment, I'll insist they keep trying today.  It doesn't bother me how many times they stab me, I'm not at all squeamish about it, but I don't want to have to keep going back there for more attempts.  I do drink a couple of glasses of water beforehand, I don't know what else I can do.  I've got another appointment on Thursday, for my annual diabetes review.

We've been invited to a BBQ next month, by neighbours where we used to live.  I'm feeling a bit ambivalent about it really - although it'll be nice to see friends again, I regard living there as as a part of my life that's over and I'm not particularly keen to revisit it, there were a couple of neighbours there who turned out to be not so nice after all.  It'll be ok though, I expect, I doubt those neighbours will be invited.  As for our old house, I'm not remotely interested in it.

  1. Well, I'll agree to disagree on the motor racing thing. I find it noisy (even on the telly) and boring! In fact, apart from the boat race, I don't watch any sport.
I hope they can get some blood out of you today. As I said before, some can do it, some can't!πŸ§› xx

  2. I suffer the same issue with giving blood, I always ensure I am warm, wearing an extra layer to help the veins sit proud, our surgery will only try 3 times, if they are not successful the send time, you have to go to our local hospital. Before I had chemo, I always had to sit with a heat pad for a while, so heat does work.

  3. Can you take aspirin - that sort of 'thins' the blood, doesn't it? Good luck.

And a great idea about planning ahead. I like that! xx

  4. Star jumps! Seriously, if you are able to do a few of those before they try to take the blood it will literally get the blood pumping and make the blood vessels more accessible. Good luck! πŸ€

  6. When I was in the hospital and they took blood all the time, one of the nurses would take a rubber glove and fill it with warm water and tie it off. She would place this on the inside of my arm/wrist and was able to get blood without any trouble. Yes, heat helps. Good luck. Ranee (MN) USA

  7. Would there be any space in hubby's shed to be able to use a few of the old kitchen units when they take them out to put the new ones in? It's surprising how neat a shed looks when it's fitted out with kitchen cupboards, my ex-husband did it at our council house when they installed a new kitchen for us.
